Norditropin NordiFlex contains a synthetic form of human growth hormone known as Somatropin, which is identical to the hormone naturally produced by the body. While children require growth hormone for their development, it is also important for adults' overall health.

Norditropin NordiFlex is utilized to address growth failure in children, including cases of no or very low growth hormone production (growth hormone deficiency); Turner syndrome (a genetic disorder that can impact growth); reduced renal function; short stature in those born small for gestational age (SGA); and Noonan syndrome (a genetic condition that may affect growth).

In adults, Norditropin NordiFlex serves to replenish growth hormone if its production has diminished since childhood or has been lost during adulthood due to a tumor, tumor treatment, or a condition affecting the glands that produce growth hormone. Individuals treated for growth hormone deficiency during childhood will undergo retesting after reaching adulthood. If growth hormone deficiency is confirmed, treatment should continue.

Avoid using Norditropin NordiFlex: If you are allergic to Somatropin, phenol, or any other components of Norditropin NordiFlex; if you have undergone a kidney transplant; if you have an active tumor (cancer). Tumors must be inactive and you must have completed antitumor therapy before starting Norditropin NordiFlex; if you are experiencing an acute critical illness, such as after open heart surgery, abdominal surgery, multiple injuries, or acute respiratory failure; if you have stopped growing (closed epiphyses) in the absence of growth hormone deficiency.

Like all medications, Norditropin NordiFlex may have side effects, but not everyone experiences them.

Side effects that may occur in both children and adults (frequency unknown) include: rash; wheezing; swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips; or severe collapse. These could indicate an allergic reaction. Other potential effects include headaches, vision problems, nausea, and vomiting, which may point to increased pressure in the brain. Serum thyroxin levels might decrease, and there could be elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia).
